Japan Week is an international cultural exchange program which, along with introducing Japan through its vital culture, achievements, art, music, fashion, sports and economy, seeks to achieve mutual understanding, friendship and goodwill through the involvement of sponsoring local residents.

One of the main features of Japan Week is that the performances, exhibitions, and demonstrations held at the venues are not limited to a one-way presentation of the topic at hand, but encourage the participation of local residents who patronize the event.

OBJECTIVES

1 – Promotion of mutual understanding and friendship with host countries

2 – Promotion of Japanese art and culture, as well as the introduction of a wide range
of topics related to Japanese art and culture

3- Development of international awareness and understanding among the Japanese people

4 – Promotion of the vitalization and internationalization of regional societies

5 – Contribution to the preservation and succession of traditional art and other cultural heritage

6 – Promotion of exchanges between sister cities and friendship

Presentation of Japan through local traditional and folk performances, traditional Japanese music concerts, Japanese drums and Western music, choirs, dances, theater, kimono shows, etc.

Exhibitions, demonstrations and workshops

Exhibitions, demonstrations and workshops on painting, calligraphy, handicrafts, ceramics, culture related to costumes, food and housing, the Japanese tea ceremony, flower arranging, etc.

local Japanese cultures and sister city exchanges, friendly cities

Presentation of local Japanese cultures by engaging local governments with various exhibitions and presentations of traditional local performing arts. Participation of local governments in brotherhood/friendship relations with host cities through exchange programs.

Sports programs

Exhibitions of traditional martial arts such as judo, karate, sumo, kendo and archery. Also practice popular sports such as baseball, soccer, basketball, etc.
